Overview

Seeking a Finance Adviser to lead financial management in Germany, ensuring compliance and driving financial planning, monitoring, oversight, and control.


Tasks Summary
  • Comply with NRC and national policies, systems, procedures, and practices
  • Manage and optimize finance processes including budgeting, reporting, closing, payments, financial statements, and audits
  • Reconcile, monitor, control, and report on office finances, budget, and cash flows
  • Contribute to efficient financial management of programs/projects
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and capacity development on finance issues
  • Cooperate with Head of Support to manage financial systems and processes
  • Enter transactions, maintain general ledger, and accounting records
  • Manage banking, payables/receivables, payroll, intercompany, budgeting, and reconciliation
  • Process information, prepare monthly closing package, balance sheet, and profit/loss statement
  • Assist in optimizing and digitalizing internal accounting processes
  • Produce regular updates and analysis on office finances
  • Co-lead on external and year-end audits
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Provide technical support on project proposal development and implementation
  • Conduct quality checks and reviews of program/project budgets and financial reports
  • Support timely, accurate, and complete proposals, payment requests, and reports to German donors
  • Engage with NRC Global, Regional, and Country level finance teams
  • Monitor, document, and verify incoming project funds
  • Deliver training and capacity building on NRC’s finance policies and German donor rules
  • Conduct country field visits to monitor compliance

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience providing financial support across complex projects and budgets
  • Familiarity with institutional funding and understanding of donor requirements
  • Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts

Qualification Requirements
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in German and English

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of French

Contract Duration: • 2 years

Remuneration: • Grade 8 on NRC’s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions
