Overview

The role is for an Information Systems Assistant - Safeguards Technology Assistant within the Directorate-General for Energy. The main purpose is to support the acquisition, development, installation, and maintenance of Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and data analysis systems for safeguards verification.

Tasks Summary

• Responsible for the acquisition, development, installation and maintenance of Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and data analysis systems.
• Monitor and advise on the use of remote and unattended data acquisition and analysis software.
• Provide technical and administrative guidance for informatics projects related to safeguards measurement systems.
• Contribute to defining OT and data analysis strategies for new installations.
• Test and administer databases supporting safeguards systems.
• Responsible for OT system configuration and troubleshooting.
• Set up data acquisition and analysis tools.
• Contribute to the development of data visualization solutions.
• Ensure the maintenance, installation or upgrade of remote monitoring systems in the field.
• Carry out a state of health analysis on remote systems.
• Contribute to the drafting of technical specifications, evaluation of offers and performance of technical acceptance tests of infield software applications and hardware.
• Support the administration of OT service and maintenance contracts.

Experience Requirements

• Proven experience in Operational Technology (OT) and data analysis.
• Good knowledge of software development and programming (e.g. .Net environment).
• Experience with relational database management systems (e.g. SQL Server or Historian/real time databases) will be considered as an asset.
• Good command of VPN (Virtual private network) techniques.
• Sound understanding of basic cryptographic concepts (e.g. some knowledge of PKI).

Qualification Requirements

• A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, OR
• A level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.

Other Details

Languages Required: • A thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU. • A satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: The duration of the 1st contract will be of 1 to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Work Modality:

Remuneration: The recruitment grade, as well as the step in that grade, will be determined in accordance with Commission Decision C(2025) 4716 on policies for the engagement and use of temporary agents and with Commission Decision C(2013)8970 laying down the criteria applicable to classification in step on engagement. The recruitment grade will be calculated based on the qualifications and the number of years of professional experience, according to Art. 13 of the Commission Decision C(2025)4716. Higher grades may be granted exceptionally. The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
