Application should be sent to esc.incoming@icye.dk Ågård Efterskole is one of many “efterskoler” in Denmark where students from 14-17 years of age live and study at the school. Ågård Efterskole has a Christian base and tries to give the students an understanding of Danish history, culture and also the contemporary society in general. The main task for the volunteer is to be a part of the school’s daily life: Helping with teaching and supervising young people at the age of 14-17 together with other teachers and help in the kitchen 1-2 days a week. Other possibilities depending on your interests could be to arrange different sports activities like volleyball, football, handball, badminton or gymnastics with students. Especially gymnastics play a big role at Ågård Efterskole and we participate in different shows throughout the year. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements The volunteer will be living at the school in his/her own room and bathroom. 8 staff members live in houses placed on the school area. All meals are provided by the kitchen staff. Training during the activity On arrival training and Midterm training is provided by the Danish NA. Camps and events arranged by Dansk ICYE Participant profile We would like a volunteer with interest in working with young people and some type of teaching experience. The volunteer must be hard-working, flexible, talkative, outgoing and have a strong interest in sports. Because of the students' age we would prefer a volunteer older than 20 years We would like to ensure that we receive the right candidate by carrying out interviews on Skype in German or English. We would like a volunteer that speaks German or is fluent in English.
