Overview
The Local Coordinator & NDC Advisor will act as a liaison between public and private sectors in Zambia and the UNEP project team, engaging stakeholders and supporting data gathering for climate change initiatives.
Tasks Summary
- Support the evaluation of current NDC plan progress, achievements, and challenges.
- Produce a stakeholder mapping report and lead local stakeholder engagement.
- Help develop an investment plan detailing public and private investment shares.
- Support the development and dissemination of capacity building materials.
- Lead provincial level NDC-Strategy alignment workshops.
- Organize and host NDC stakeholder dissemination and awareness workshops.
- Help organize a donor conference to mobilize resources for NDC investment projects.
- Hold review meetings on existing policies and regulations to align them with national NDC goals.
Experience Requirements
- More than 10 years of practical experience on climate change issues, including on NDC implementation.
- Experience with the formulation and/or monitoring of Nationally Determined Contributions.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the building of capacity for climate action in private sector businesses or with governments on climate action in Zambia.
- Relevant experience in consulting work.
- Concrete experience in Zambia on climate change topics with public institutions – either as an employee or as a consultant or partner - is required.
- Experience in organizing workshops and/or similar events is an asset.
- Experience in either developing project proposal for sustainable tourism or in sustainable tourism policy would be desirable.
Qualification Requirements
• A Master’s Degree (with seven years of related work experience) or Bachelors degree (with 9 years of relevant work experience), in environmental engineering, finance, economics, development studies, business, management, administration or another relevant field is required.
