Overview
The Community-Based Protection Associate works directly with communities of concern to identify risks and leverage their capacities for protection. The role supports the application of community-based protection standards and involves building and maintaining networks within communities.
Tasks Summary
- - Assist in integrating participatory and community-based approaches in the protection strategy.
- - Stay abreast of developments impacting the protection environment and advise the protection team.
- - Work with communities and partners to develop community-owned activities.
- - Support participatory assessments and ongoing consultation with PoC.
- - Build office capacity for community-based protection through training.
- - Act as an interpreter and respond to routine queries.
- - Intervene with authorities on protection matters.
- - Enforce compliance of implementing partners with protection policies.
- - Recommend and prepare payments to individual cases.
- - Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
- 3 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
- Experience in coordinating with local authorities, civil society organizations, traditional leaders, and UN/NGO partners is required.
- Prior work with forcibly displaced populations in conflict-affected and access-constrained environments is required.
