Overview
The MHPSS Cultural Mediation Associate (Somali) will support the implementation of community mobilization activities and related tasks for international protection applicants. The role aims to improve psychosocial well-being and strengthen resilience.
Tasks Summary
- Provide cultural mediation and interpretation support between service providers and migrants.
- Provide verbal interpretation support to IPAS staff in Citywest.
- Assist through interpretation during the collection of routine information and data and case identification and referrals.
- Support beneficiaries in contacting service providers by providing interpretation and mediation support.
- Support the identification of vulnerabilities and refer them for case management.
- Support IOM partners in community engagement and awareness-raising activities.
- Conduct outreach activities to inform beneficiaries about MHPSS services.
- Provide interpretation assistance to mental health professionals during counselling sessions.
- Prepare routine documentation and submit basic reports.
Experience Requirements
- High school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings, and competence in the MHPSS specialized vocabulary would be an asset.
- Experience in cultural mediation in the framework of migrants’ assistance.
- Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Government’s Departments would be an asset.
Qualification Requirements
• High school diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Social Sciences, International relations or related fields from an accredited academic institution.
