Overview

As Advocacy Manager, you will provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for policy and advocacy work in Eastern DRC, identifying priority humanitarian concerns and strengthening advocacy integration.

Tasks Summary
  • Lead and conduct context-specific research in DRC to generate evidence supporting interventions and strategic positioning.
  • Prepare high-quality key messages, talking points, briefings notes, letters and other advocacy products.
  • Supervise the drafting of press releases and social media output.
  • Network with other organisations and lead on joint field-based advocacy.
  • Ensure systematic training on advocacy and build capacity of staff.
  • Seek fundraising opportunities for advocacy and contribute to proposal development.
  • Ensure internal communication and alignment with relevant NRC units for consistent policy positions.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum five years relevant professional experience within the humanitarian, development, human rights, foreign policy, or similar field.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, preferably in the East Africa region.
  • Documented experience with humanitarian advocacy and the production of high-standard written materials.
  • Documented experience with relevant thematic areas (displacement, durable solutions, protection, food security, humanitarian space), including through conducting research.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of actors, including government and regional entities.
  • Experience in carrying out assessments and focus group discussions.
  • Documented/proven results related to key elements of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of the international humanitarian system, policy and practice.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Representation and public speaking experience are an advantage.

Remuneration: Grade 9 on NRC’s salary scale
