Overview

The National Professional Officer (Finance) role is to provide effective and efficient administrative support in the area of finance within the FAO Shared Services Centre.

Tasks Summary

• Coordinates and supervises the activities of an operational team in banking, accounts payable, assets, bank reconciliation, and other Finance Unit teams.
• Ensures the delivery of results within established SLAs and effective responses to clients.
• Creates and maintains Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) in banking, accounts payable, assets, and bank reconciliation.
• Exchanges and/or provides information to internal and external partners and provides information/clarification to auditors.
• Monitors the work of the team and reviews performance reports.
• Prepares, analyses, and evaluates information from financial records and provides inputs for operational improvement.
• Provides support to projects assigned by SSC Management and the Finance Officer; monitors and reports on progress.
• Contributes to process improvement initiatives and undertakes requirements gathering activities.
• Participates in the development of training and related materials and promotes best practices and capacity development.
• Performs other duties as required.

Experience Requirements

• One year of relevant experience in office management, administration, accounting and/or audit, budget or finance.
• Extent and relevance of experience in finance, business analysis, banking and/or accounting as well as payment processing and/or reconciliation or supplier banking records masterfile maintenance.
• Extent and relevance of knowledge and experience in analysing and evaluating financial reports and/or experience in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Experience in a shared services or business support centre is highly desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a field related to business or public administration.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and Hungarian.

Languages Preferred: • Intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is highly desirable.

Contract Duration: Fixed-term: one year with possibility of extension

Remuneration: • Staff members in this category are recruited locally and paid according to a local salary scale. Salary scales are reviewed periodically on the basis of comprehensive surveys of the best prevailing conditions of employment in the locality.
