Overview
Communications Officer in Dnipro Field Office assists in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating advocacy and communication work to ensure children’s and women’s issues are articulated in the public domain and strengthen political will in support of better protecting and improving children’s lives.
Tasks Summary
- Ensure timely production and follow-up of communication products and materials to support country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns and priorities.
- Implement tasks in the country and related field office communication work plan and strategy.
- Produce advocacy and communication materials such as briefing notes, images, video, and web pages.
- Assist in drafting and editing articles, press releases, and human interest stories.
- Follow up on the production of advocacy and communication materials and oversee qualitative aspects.
- Establish or maintain an up-to-date documentation centre for communication materials.
- Recommend appropriate information and communication materials for use in media and other activities.
- Recommend established contacts, networks, resources, and processes to support communication activities.
- Provide professional assistance and support in developing, drafting and maintaining contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Maintain and update media relations contact list/database.
- Assist in developing and maintaining close collaboration with mass media, groups and organizations.
- Prepare background communication and promotional materials for briefing and visits of media and other special interest groups.
- Assist in collaborating with the media through activities such as organizing project site visits and facilitating photo coverage.
- Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials.
- Contribute to developing an advocacy and communication strategy by coordinating audience research and compiling data.
- Monitor and evaluate the appropriate and timely dissemination of advocacy and communication materials.
- Monitor the public perception of UNICEF in the country and recommend appropriate action.
- Assist in providing feedback on the use and appropriateness of global communication materials.
- Ensure good quality data collection, analysis, evaluation and reporting.
- Undertake lessons learned review of communication experiences.
- Help organize and generate public support for special events and activities.
- Maintain and update celebrity and partner contact lists/database.
- Monitor/document process and effectiveness of working with individuals/organizations.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of two years of practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media. Field work experience. Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
Qualification Requirements
A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field.
