Overview
Responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC systems within the UN complex, including performing daily inspections, investigating climate control complaints, and learning Chiller Plant operations.
Tasks Summary
- - Maintains HVAC systems by servicing and overhauling pneumatic controls, steam valves and other associated equipment.
- - Repairs bearings and shafts, removes defective equipment, installs and tests new equipment.
- - Performs daily inspections of temperature and humidity controls in conference rooms and other areas.
- - Makes adjustments to ensure adequate air flow, replaces filters, belts, adjusts dampers and operates instruments for balancing air quantity.
- - Replaces angle valves and elbows in window units.
- - Investigates climate control complaints, makes necessary adjustments and/or repairs.
- - Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- - Learns the operation of the Chiller Plant and work towards obtaining Chiller Operator license.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) trade is required. The experience can be waived for applicants who hold an FDNY Q-01 Operating Engineer Certification.
Qualification Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent Trade School diploma is required.
- Possession of EPA Universal Refrigerant License is required.
