Overview

Provide substantive support to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the One Health national strategy and action plan(s). Coordinate mechanisms for collaboration and communication with related line Ministries and partners.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide substantive support to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the One Health national strategy and One Health action plan(s) and provide appropriate recommendations and technical and operational advice.
  • Coordinate the establishment of effective mechanisms for collaboration and communication with related line Ministries (MOH, MOA, MOE, etc) and partners (FAO, WOAH, UNEP, etc..).
  • Support the country to establish and/or strengthen coordinated inter-linked surveillance and information sharing systems by promoting the One Health approach and its use in early warning systems.
  • Contribute to the integration of the one-health approach in emergency preparedness and response by all stakeholders at national and subnational levels.
  • Provide technical advice to country prevention, preparedness, readiness and response to emergencies activities at the human-animal-environment interface, including the organization of One Health events.
  • Participate in the development and management of other technical programmes with a human-animal, environment interface component.
  • Coordinate resource mobilization efforts to support the implementation of One Health programmes at the national and subnational levels.
  • Support capacity building and workforce development to strengthen human resources to conduct One Health-related tasks.
Experience Requirements
  • At least five years' experience with international exposure on prevention, surveillance, detection and response to infectious zoonotic diseases.
  • At least two years of field experience in the management of outbreaks of zoonotic diseases.
  • Experience in developing frameworks and guidance for One Health and in the implementation of training workshops at national/international level.
  • Experience in the development and management of multi-partner projects.
  • Experience of work in the area of surveillance and preparedness for pandemic diseases and other health emergencies, preferably at the international level.
  • Previous experience in working with UN agencies and other relevant international organizations.
Qualification Requirements
  • Essential: First University degree in medicine, veterinary medicine or health-related fields.
  • Desirable: Post-graduate training in epidemiology of tropical and/or zoonotic diseases. Additional degree in public health.
Other Details

Languages Required: Expert knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Arabic.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality:

Remuneration: Annual base salary starting at USD 70,212 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1866 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
