Overview

This internship focuses on conducting research, reviewing documentation, and preparing analyses related to Sexual and Gender based Crimes (SGBC) and Crimes Against and Affecting Children (CAAC) in the context of Myanmar.

Tasks Summary
  • Conducting research, reviewing documentation, and preparing analyses on various issues relating to SGBC, CAAC, and gender and intersectional analysis relevant to the situation in Myanmar.
  • Contributing to the preparation of briefing papers, reports including incident reports and investigation plans, and/or public information materials and population of databases related to SGBC, CAAC, and gender and intersectional analysis.
  • Assisting in the compilation and review of information, documentation and evidence relating to SGBC, CAAC, and gender and intersectional analysis.
  • Proof-reading, summarizing, translating when relevant and editing documents.
  • Drafting meeting records.
Experience Requirements

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience. However, they are required to have undertaken studies in law, international relations, political science, gender studies or related areas. Training or academic or prior experience in research or analysis of SGBC, CAAC and/or gender issues is desirable.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), or in an advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD Pprogramme or equivalent), or must have completed a university degree maximum one year before the date of their application.

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Work Modality: in-person or remote

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
