Overview

This internship opportunity is with the Gender and Inclusivity Unit within the Department of Safety and Security, focusing on strategic communication and outreach related to gender and inclusivity.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist with strategic communication and outreach on gender and inclusivity issues.
  • Conduct research and analysis on gender and inclusivity.
  • Monitor media and social media trends for multimedia product design.
  • Support planning and execution of campaigns, events, and workshops.
  • Contribute ideas for events, projects, and innovative communication formats.
  • Assist in drafting and editing summaries, briefs, and reports.
  • Provide support for the implementation of the Department's Gender Strategy and other diversity and inclusion portfolios.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required (Communication, Digital Communication, Mass Communication and Media, Journalism, Public Relations).

Qualification Requirements
  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).
  • Computer literate and proficient in standard software applications (e.g., MS Office 365 or similar).
  • Ability to produce well-formatted, high-quality PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, and Excel workbooks.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.

Languages Preferred: Fluency in French (both oral and written) is desirable. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or similar software is desirable. Ability to draft articles and make concise notes is desirable. Strong knowledge of one or more analytics and presentation tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable.

Contract Duration: 3 to 6 months

Work Modality: In-Person/Hybrid/Remote

Remuneration: The internship is UNPAID.
