Overview
The Communication Specialist will support the design, development, and implementation of communication activities for FAO Sudan projects and programs, ensuring effective media presence and promoting food security and sustainable resource management.
Tasks Summary
- Design and implement a communications strategy for the country office.
- Support the preparation of priority communication materials.
- Develop and produce project factsheets, articles, social media messages, and monitor media coverage.
- Develop, produce, and disseminate communication and visibility products.
- Support project/sector teams with sector-specific communication needs.
- Support the regular sharing of information on project activities with stakeholders.
- Participate in inter-agency communication meetings.
- Prepare press releases and facilitate media interviews.
- Design, plan, and organize media coverage of activities and events.
- Establish and maintain relationships with media and update media lists.
- Select and propose photos and videos for the FAO corporate photo database.
- Maintain contact with the Office of Corporate Communications (OCC).
- Collate information and develop digital assets for social media channels.
- Liaise with RCO and OCC for review and clearance of communication products.
- Ensure all communication products comply with global FAO key messages, terminology, standards, and guidelines.
- Maintain regular coordination with RCO and OCC.
- Monitor social media for results, compliance, trends, and risks.
- Participate in the development and implementation of communications plans for campaigns.
Experience Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in Communications.
- Proven experience in communicating project results.
- Familiarity with various communications tools, including digital platforms and social media for internal or external communication, would be an asset.
- Knowledge in communications and media relations.
- Experience in /familiarity with communication and visibility guidelines for development institutions such as FAO.
- Knowledge and skills on production of communications materials, organizing media or other events, managing social media platforms.
Qualification Requirements
• University degree in Journalism, Communication, media relations, or a related field.
