Overview

Supports the management and implementation of the Digital Trade Growth project in Ethiopia, focusing on inception and pilot phases.

Tasks Summary
  • Participates in project development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitors and analyzes project development and implementation.
  • Reviews relevant documents and reports.
  • Identifies problems and issues and proposes corrective actions.
  • Liaises with relevant parties and identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
  • Performs consulting assignments, including planning and facilitating workshops.
  • Assists in developing action plans for pilot interventions and future programme design.
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents information from diverse sources.
  • Contributes to market systems analysis, ecosystem mapping, and sector diagnostics.
  • Assists in policy development, including review and analysis of issues and trends.
  • Prepares evaluations or other research activities and studies.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives and analytical assessments.
  • Designs data collection tools.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets responses.
  • Prepares conclusions and recommendations.
  • Prepares written outputs, including draft background papers and analytical sections of reports.
  • Provides substantive support to meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Undertakes outreach activities and contributes to training workshops and seminars.
  • Makes presentations on assigned topics and activities.
  • Participates in or leads field missions.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding at the national level.
  • Prepares related documentation and inputs.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.
  • Experience working on projects in the digital and agricultural sectors, especially in Ethiopia is desirable.
  • Experience working on projects following a Market Systems Development approach is desirable.
  • Experience in Trade Related Technical Assistance in developing countries is desirable.
  • Experience advising companies on export, investment or business development is desirable.
  • Experience engaging with senior government officials, policymakers, the private sector, and civil society is desirable.
  • Experience in partnership building and effective fundraising is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English, (both oral and written) is required

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

Contract Duration: 11 months, with possibility of extension

Work Modality: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
