Overview

Seeking a qualified consultant for Ocean Knowledge and Information Management to collect, process, organize, archive, and disseminate knowledge and information related to the Sub-Commission’s programme and activities, including UN Ocean Decade Actions.

Tasks Summary
  • Ensure systematic collection, organization, and digital archiving of programme and activity information, documents, knowledge products, and communication materials.
  • Support the dissemination of knowledge on the ocean and ocean science in the Western Pacific and adjacent areas.
  • Develop communication and visibility materials, including summaries, reports, outreach products, video, and web content.
  • Assist with coordination and communication with Member States, partners, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide communication, documentation, and coordination support to ongoing programmes and activities.
  • Perform other functions as requested by the Head of the WESTPAC Office.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in policy analysis, governance frameworks, multilateral processes, or intergovernmental cooperation, particularly in contexts involving Member State engagement, regional coordination, or UN system mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools, content management systems, and knowledge dissemination practices (e.g., WordPress, Photoshop, Lightroom, Figma, Canva) will be an asset.
Qualification Requirements

Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in ocean science, ocean governance, environmental policy, international relations, or related fields.

Other Details

Languages Required: Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.

Contract Duration: From 7 to 11 months

Work Modality: The consultant may be required to travel on missions directly related to projects and implementation during the assignment.

Remuneration: The Consultant is expected to make her/his own travel arrangements and should be provided with a lump sum to cover travel-related expenses in accordance with UNESCO rules and regulations. Travel-related expenses (e.g. the cost of tickets, terminal fares and DSA) must be fixed and agreed between the parties.
