Overview

Provide assistance in support of planning and implementation activities for programmes and initiatives related to human trafficking and migrant smuggling. Function as the main focal point for actions implemented in Chad under the PROMIS project.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in promoting UNODC's work against trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.
  • Support the implementation of UNODC's Regional Strategy and mobilize resources.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the PROMIS project in Chad.
  • Liaise with relevant parties, including national counterparts, civil society and other international/regional organizations.
  • Perform consulting assignments, including planning and facilitating workshops.
  • Provide technical expertise and logistical support to design and implement project activities.
  • Research, analyse and present information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Design, prepare and/or facilitate standardized training materials.
  • Prepare various written outputs, such as draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies.
  • Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings.
  • Undertake outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Accompany senior staff in representing UNODC in meetings.
  • Participate in events, workshops, conferences and networks as required.
  • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data and identification of trends or patterns.
  • Document requirements and background information used for data analysis.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years of relevant professional work experience in the field of criminal justice, human rights, law, or a related field is required. Work experience in dealing with trafficking in persons or smuggling of migrants is required. Work experience in programme/project administration, planning, implementation and monitoring is required. Experience in international development cooperation is desirable. Work experience with the United Nations or similar international organization is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, criminology, social science, international relations, political science, public administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar field in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required: English and French are required.

Contract Duration: initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds.
