Overview

The consultant will develop and deliver design thinking training and tools for UN staff to enhance programme development and impact, aligning with the UN Ethiopia 2025-2030 Cooperation Framework.

Tasks Summary

• Deliver a design thinking training methodology based on UN Ethiopia 2025-2030 Cooperation Framework goals.
• Develop evergreen design thinking tools and training materials for UN staff.
• Facilitate three (3) 2-day step-down workshops on design thinking methodology.
• Prepare a final assessment report with recommendations and additional training suggestions.

Experience Requirements

• 7 years of demonstrated expertise in design thinking, including partnerships with reputable design thinking institutions or hubs.
• Strong understanding of design thinking methodologies in civil society and international NGOs, particularly in a non-Western context.
• Excellent knowledge of social innovation techniques.
• Experience developing and/or delivering training programmes for international development organizations in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and collaborate effectively in teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing.
• Experience working in Ethiopia or in-depth knowledge of development in the Ethiopian context is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Design, Innovation, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
• Certification in International Design Thinking is desirable.
