Overview

Carries out structural preliminary and detailed design for UNRWA projects and contributes to tender document preparation. Provides technical advice and coordinates with field teams on structural design issues.

Tasks Summary

• Carries out structural preliminary and detailed design for UNRWA projects including schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters, rehousing, PV solar Panel Trusses, Steel Sheds, water tanks, structures for pumping stations and warehouses.
• Contributes to the tender documents preparation, including particular specifications to cover special structural design needs.
• Reviews the design received from the contractors, for steel structure of PV solar panel System and sheds, or any shop drawings for concrete structural element.
• Searches and checks properties of materials ensuring their suitability for the design and fitness for purpose and safety.
• Provides technical advice with regard to the alteration works of the Agency's premises.
• Coordinates and liaises with Construction site/Field teams on structural design issues arising during the implementation period.
• Discusses and liaises with other designers, to optimise designs in response to structural needs and maintaining structural soundness and integrity at minimum cost.
• Assists in drafting terms of references for consultants related to structural works and supervising their work.

Experience Requirements

• At least four years of relevant experience including at least two years in planning big projects, with due consideration to foundation works, and assessment of geotechnical reports is required.
• Experience with structural design software (SAP, Etabs, Safe) and computer aided design programmes is required.

Qualification Requirements

University degree in civil/structural engineering or equivalent
