Overview

Interns will support the Journal Unit in the daily preparation and publication of the Journal of the United Nations, which serves as a historical record of United Nations Headquarters activities.

Tasks Summary

• Providing assistance in the publication of the Journal of the United Nations.
• Providing assistance in the maintenance and update of the Journal Unit databases and planning dashboards.
• Providing assistance in the compilation, review and analysis of data and other information needed for the publication of meetings and events.
• Providing technical assistance in the Journal Content Management System (JCMS).
• Providing assistance in attending to queries from submitters and secretariats regarding the programmes or summaries of the Journal of the United Nations.
• Providing administrative assistance to the Unit.
• Performing any other related duties, as may be assigned.

Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
• be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English and French are required for the internship.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Work Modality: In-person, Remote or Hybrid

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
