Overview
The intern will support the implementation of UNRWA’s Environmental Sustainability Policy and Climate Change Strategy through various activities related to environmental impact identification, assessment, management, and reporting.
Tasks Summary
- Support the development and use of corporate tools, templates and other materials for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting data on UNRWA’s primary environmental impacts;
- Undertake guided research in support of UNRWA projects aimed at reducing the Agency’s own environmental impacts and/or improving the environmental sustainability of programmes;
- Assist in knowledge management activities, including documenting environmental improvement actions, analysing associated environmental benefits, and contributing to staff campaigns and training materials;
- Contribute to the preparation of written inputs for in-house and external reporting obligations, as well as project proposals and concept notes;
- Prepare operational and coordination materials such as briefing notes, meeting records, presentations and background documents;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements
No working experience is required. Prior experience of relevant environmental activities, through paid employment, volunteering or academic work, will be highly regarded.
Qualification Requirements
- Be enrolled in an accredited first-level, higher education programme (Bachelor’s or equivalent); or
- Be enrolled in an accredited graduate school programme (Master’s or higher or equivalent); or
- Have graduated with a university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent ), and if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
The major field of study should be in sustainability management, environmental engineering, natural resource management, business/public administration, international relations, or a related subject.
