Overview

This internship provides research and analytical support, focusing on data collection and analysis for reports and events related to economic affairs.

Tasks Summary
  • Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and synthesize findings into analytical summaries, background notes, annotated bibliographies, and draft report inputs.
  • Contribute analytical content for the 2026 Flagship Report, policy briefs, fact sheets, presentations, and talking points.
  • Gather, clean, and organize data on financing for development, STEM, IP, STI, and strategic asset indicators.
  • Conduct basic statistical analysis and identify trends.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and data visualizations.
  • Assist in drafting background materials, data annexes, and consolidated research inputs for the Flagship Report.
  • Conduct consistency checks for data, terminology, and references.
  • Track contributions, comments, and revisions during internal review processes.
  • Assist with background materials and speaker notes for the 2026 STI - Strategic Asset Management Webinar.
  • Assist with coordination with speakers and participants for the webinar.
  • Provide logistical and documentation support for the webinar.
  • Prepare short follow-up summaries post-event.
  • Draft inputs for policy briefs, briefing notes, talking points, presentations, and meeting documentation.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferably in economics, finance, management, Statistics, Data Analytics, International relations; Political Economy. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency English is required

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: New York

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
