Overview

Internship supporting the Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office's efforts to strengthen partnerships, advance peacebuilding agendas, and coordinate workstreams on peace tech.

Tasks Summary
  • Supporting efforts to strengthen partnerships with International Financial Institutions on prevention and peacebuilding initiatives.
  • Advancing the Secretary-General’s peacebuilding and sustaining peace agenda, as well as the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda.
  • Support coordination and conduct initial research for the development of a workstream on peace tech.
  • Preparing background research, data analysis, document inputs, and meeting summaries related to peacebuilding.
  • Participating in UN mechanisms and coordination platforms to promote an integrated and coherent system approach to peacebuilding.
  • Attending and supporting relevant Peacebuilding Commission meetings and providing assistance in the management of the Peacebuilding Fund.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Experience Requirements

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Applicants must have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year period of graduation.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications, including Excel (advanced knowledge desirable).
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Remuneration: The United Nations does not financially remunerate interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
