Peace and Development Intern

Overview

The Peace and Development Intern will provide substantive support in research, information-gathering, report and analysis, identifying entry-points for conflict-sensitive approaches, and providing technical support for peace-related UN programming.

Tasks Summary

• Assisting on research, information-gathering, report and analysis with specific focus on supporting and promoting peacebuilding and conflict prevention
• Identifying entry-points and support inclusive and conflict-sensitive approaches in efforts to build national capacities for conflict prevention, particularly with regard to civil society, including indigenous, rural, women’s and youth networks
• Provide technical support for peace-related UN programming

Experience Requirements

Qualification Requirements

• Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
• Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher)

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish are required

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Work Modality: Predominantly office-based. The selected candidate should be available to perform duties primarily in person.

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
