Overview
Contribute to the development, improvement, and consistent application of OCHA ROAP’s design and layout standards across all public information outputs. Conceptualize and develop graphic designs and templates for reports, publications, and digital assets.
Tasks Summary
- Contribute to the development, improvement, and consistent application of OCHA ROAP’s design, and layout standards across all public information outputs, ensuring alignment with OCHA’s branding guidelines.
- Conceptualize and develop graphic designs and template for reports, publications, interactive digital product, and social media assets ensuring innovative, clarity, readability and adherence to OCHA's guidelines.
- Provide guidance to colleagues and partners on visual communications standard, and effective use of OCHA branding across regional initiatives.
- Supports the Regional Public Information Officer in the management, content planning, and strategic development of OCHA ROAP’s digital and social media platforms.
- Produce, edits and update a range of communication and public information products—including Daily Operation Updates, press releases, situation updates, noon lines, reports, and presentations—for dissemination across OCHA channels.
- Supports the drafting, layout, and editorial review process to ensure that all written outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with OCHA’s editorial standards.
- Consolidates and synthesizes inputs from Humanitarian Advisory Teams (HATs), country offices, and regional clusters to produce situational reporting materials.
- Ensures coherence of content across all platforms and supports the integration of visuals, data, and narrative content for visibility impact.
- Coordinates with relevant units to ensure consistent and accurate information flow on ongoing emergencies and preparedness activities.
- Supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of communication and visibility activities for regional events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.
- Support the country offices and Humanitarian Advisory Teams (HATs) with the implementation of regional events communications.
- Supports the Regional Public Information Officer and the Head of the Situation Unit in ad-hoc communication and coordination tasks, including surge communication support during sudden-onset emergencies (on-site or remote) and appointed as a unit in charge as assigned by regional Public Information Officer.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of ten 10 years of experience (or 8 years if graduated with a first-level university degree) in public information management, journalism, mass communication or relevant area is required. Relevant experience working with teams in complex emergency and / or natural disaster response (in actual setting where a mission and/or project is being implemented or remote support) in the Asia Pacific Region is required. Experience using multimedia tools and applications (i.e. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Canva) in production of all PI work is required. Experience in drafting and editing media content (i.e. press releases and response plan, short video production) is required. Experience managing website and/or social media platforms (i.e. X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or Weibo) is required. Experience in communications on humanitarian affairs is desirable. Experience in the United Nations Common System or international organizations is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.
