Overview
Consultant to provide legal and policy support to Gabon, Mauritania, and Syria in implementing the Basel Convention and meeting their national reporting obligations.
Tasks Summary
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs for assessment reports on legal and institutional frameworks.
- Develop programmes, presentations, and supporting materials for inception meetings and awareness-raising workshops.
- Draft legal and institutional mechanisms/measures to ensure sustainable compliance with reporting obligations.
- Prepare national reports for Gabon, Mauritania, and Syria for 2025.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback into final draft legal and institutional mechanisms/measures.
Experience Requirements
- At least two years’ work experience in the field of environmental law.
- Demonstrable experience with the implementation and enforcement of multilateral environmental agreements, including the Basel Convention, is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
- An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in law or environmental sciences or engineering is required.
- A first-level degree in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
