Overview
The Senior Forestry Officer (Forest and Farm Facility) role focuses on the operational implementation and closure of Phase II of the Forest and Farm Facility, contributing to sustainable production and livelihoods in climate-resilient landscapes.
Tasks Summary
- Oversight and backstopping of programme implementation in countries.
- Operational guidance and management of ongoing FFF grants and their closure.
- Operational oversight and management of FFF implementation monitoring, tracking, and reporting systems.
- Operational leadership on the development and maintenance of the FFF knowledge management platform and related networks.
- Operational liaison with and management of cooperation with FFF partner organizations.
- Manages the FFF team at FAO headquarters and provides operational guidance to FFF Facilitators in FAO Country Offices.
- Manages implementation of approximately 200 FAO-signed grants, including technical and financial delivery and timely closure.
- Acts as the focal point for FFF implementing partners.
- Coordinates FFF programme monitoring, knowledge management, reporting, and communications.
- Coordinates implementation support to other programmes in which FFF is engaged.
Experience Requirements
- Ten years of relevant experience in sustainable forestry or natural resources production and building sustainable and resilient livelihoods, including in developing countries.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is essential.
- Extent and relevance of experience in providing support to countries addressing hunger, poverty and environmental issues.
- Extent and relevance of experience working with forest and farm producer organizations, small-scale producers and/or local community enterprises.
- Demonstrated results-based management capabilities with an ability to manage programmes, budgets, contracts and human resources efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to working as a team with partners in international programmes and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage data, evidence and knowledge, including dissemination and communication.
- Extent and relevance of experience in organizing international meetings, events and trainings.
Qualification Requirements
• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in forestry, agriculture, natural resources management, political and social science or economics.
