Overview

Provide technical leadership for the emergency Child Protection component, focusing on strengthening case management, MHPSS, and coordination in line with CPiE standards. Ensure interventions are technically sound and responsive to emergency needs.

Tasks Summary
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) interventions.
  • Strengthen CP case management systems and support the use of CPIMS.
  • Provide technical supervision guidance to case workers and Protection TLs.
  • Provide technical guidance on Best Interest Procedures (BIP) and support MRM.
  • Strengthen identification, documentation, referral, and follow-up of unaccompanied and separated children (UASC).
  • Ensure age-appropriate MHPSS and awareness activities.
  • Develop/adapt technical tools, SOPs, referral pathways, and guidance notes.
  • Oversee and ensure effective delivery of technical trainings for Child Protection (CP) staff.
  • Support Team Leaders in establishing structured case supervision and quality review mechanisms.
  • Identify capacity gaps and develop targeted technical improvement plans.
  • Promote integration of CP across other protection components.
  • Represent the project in relevant CP coordination platforms.
  • Strengthen coordination with relevant government authorities and line ministries.
  • Ensure alignment of project activities with national CP strategies and CP AoR guidance.
  • Support information sharing and inter-agency referral systems.
  • Provide technical input for donor reporting on CP activities.
  • Contribute to proposal development and technical narrative revisions.
  • Ensure CP activities are evidence-based and aligned with monitoring data.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of professional experience in Child Protection, preferably in humanitarian/emergency contexts.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in CP case management and supervision systems.
  • Experience with CPIMS/PRIMERO and safe data management practices.
  • Strong knowledge of CPiE standards, UASC procedures, and inter-agency case management guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Best Interest Procedures (BIP), including Best Interest Assessments (BIA) and Best Interest Determinations (BID), and experience participating in BID panels.
  • Knowledge of international legal and policy frameworks related to the Six Grave Violations against children in situations of armed conflict, including Monitoring and Reporting Mechanisms (MRM).
  • Experience supporting MHPSS activities within CP programming.
  • Proven experience in capacity building and technical mentoring of frontline teams.
  • Experience working in complex emergency settings.
  • Strong coordination and representation skills.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, Law, or related field.

Other Details

Languages Required: • Fluency in English • Fluency in at least one or more local languages, including but not limited to Dinka, Nuer, Bari, Murle, Luo, Zande, and Arabic.

Languages Preferred:

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: with frequent field missions to support Mobile Response Teams (MRTs)

Remuneration: Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on expatriate contracts
