Overview

The position will focus on ensuring compliance with DRC Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding, and Code of Conduct guidelines and procedures. The role contributes to the implementation of strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks such as spot checks/internal audits.

Tasks Summary
  • Support the Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Specialist in setting up and managing complaint tracks.
  • Conduct internal administrative investigations.
  • Produce high-quality reports on investigations.
  • Support in other activities required for the proper functioning of the CoCRM.
  • Support the Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Specialist in delivering and disseminating policies and key messages.
  • Support in ensuring that Survivors of PSEAH and other forms of abuse receive the needed assistance.
  • Collaborate with the Country Registrar at country level to maintain an efficient connection between the CoCRM and the CFM.
  • Be focal point for liaison with HR on training follow-ups and safe recruitment.
  • Be focal point for liaison with the MEAL team for compliance with reporting responsibilities.
  • Support the safeguarding Specialist in ensuring that DRC’s program implementation adheres to the safe programing policy.
  • Collaborate with HR at the Area Office on Safe Recruitment procedures, staff induction and onboarding, and planning and delivering safeguarding and CoC trainings.
  • Follow-up with HR to make sure that all staff are compliant with the trainings.
  • Support the safeguarding specialist in any other related task according to needs.
  • Support the Risk and Compliance, Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Specialist on identifying, flagging, and suggesting, mitigation measures around SEAH, Fraud and Corruption risks.
  • Support and evaluate areas of programmatic and compliance risk.
  • Strengthening internal control within the organization.
  • Follow-up on suggestions made from the Safeguarding and CoC departments.
  • Build capacity of the team, conduct and/or plan training on topics such as strengthening internal controls and fraud detection.
  • Work with the support department to ensure DRC policies and procedures are relevant, communicated, and implemented.
  • Support on internal and external audits in the field office.
Experience Requirements
  • Two years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and delivering successful training sessions and facilitating meetings.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated experience in the humanitarian sector or in social and human rights projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on ethics issues and compliance with internal policies (Familiar with Risk & Compliance).
  • Demonstrated experience writing high-quality reports in English.
  • Strong communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills, with experience working with multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a large volume of data and information.
  • Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate integrity, diplomacy, professionalism, reliability, and resilience at all times.
  • Highly developed critical analysis and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to quickly build personal rapport and trust.
  • Have interpersonal and intercultural skills and a strong ability to collaborate and network.
  • Demonstrated experience with code of conduct or similar in a large or local organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with conducting and/or monitoring internal investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience with Safeguarding and PSEA standards.
  • Experience with mechanisms for receiving petitions, complaints, and feedback.
  • Experience working with major donors such as the UN, ECHO, DANIDA, among others.
Qualification Requirements
  • First degree in relevant areas (Social sciences, international relations, law, and related areas).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of Nigeria.
  • Investigator Certification by OSACO, IASC or INGO’s.
  • Studies focused on gender, human rights, or social projects.
