Overview
Provides specialized and administrative support services for managing security and safety operations in Syria, contributing to the effective delivery of projects aimed at enhancing resilience and sustainable development.
Tasks Summary
- Assists in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation.
- Provides operational support in conducting routine security assessments and drafting safety summaries.
- Gathers, researches, verifies, and updates security information and data.
- Supports the development and implementation of the Security Plan and Self-Assessment Programme.
- Disseminates, relays, exchanges, and communicates information regarding the security situation.
- Reports security incidents and assists in the preparation of security reports.
- Provides security orientation and conducts security briefings.
- Provides guidance and advice to personnel on routine security procedures.
- Administratively supports the organization of training courses on security awareness.
- Liaises with private companies used for UNOPS security at premises.
- Administers field missions Mission Security Clearance Requests and Host Government clearance processes.
- Coordinates and tracks UNOPS field missions.
- Liaises with UNDSS and other UN agency security personnel.
- Supports operations as a Convoy Leader during UNOPS field missions.
- Acts as the primary security focal point during emergencies.
- Ensures that UNOPS personnel adhere to established security procedures and protocols.
- Maintains accurate logs of security-related assets.
- Participates in security-related meetings and supports documentation.
- Provides general administrative services for the security function.
- Maintains a database of contact details of host country security authorities.
- Organizes meetings and briefings, arranges appointments, receives visitors, and takes minutes.
- Maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents.
- Maintains an updated security shared drive and staff lists.
- Maintain records of complete security training for UNOPS staff.
- Facilitates the engagement and provision of high-quality results and services for the team.
- Provides oversight, ensuring compliance by office personnel with existing security policies.
- Assists in organizing, facilitating, and/or delivering training and learning initiatives for UNOPS personnel on security.
- Provides sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
- Performs other security-related tasks assigned.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in security or operations' services is required in national or international, public or corporate organizations.
- Relevant experience includes incident reporting, security administration support, security communication, telecommunication, and warden systems.
- Prior experience with the UN system or international NGOs is desired.
- Knowledge of Telecommunication (including HF and VHF) is desired.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is desired.
- United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) certification of Local Security Assistant (LSA) or Security Certification Programme (SCP), Emergency Trauma Bag Training, and Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) Training are desired.
Qualification Requirements
- Completion of secondary school is required with 4 years of relevant experience.
- First University Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent disciplines that will substitute for the years of experience is desired.
- Relevant certification in security-related studies that will substitute for the years of experience is desired.
