Overview

This internship in the Office of the Director of the Division on Investment and Enterprise at UNCTAD provides exposure to the United Nations and experience in economic affairs. The intern will support the organization of major events and research on investment for development.

Tasks Summary
  • Assist in the organization of the 2026 World Investment Forum and other meetings, conferences, and workshops, including preparation of documentation, liaising with participants, and updating databases.
  • Assist in background research for drafting speaking notes, speeches, articles, and correspondence on investment for development, sustainable finance, and private sector development.
  • Assist in maintaining databases, developing user surveys, and managing performance-management tools.
  • Assist in preparing first drafts of analytical studies on investment and enterprise for development issues and policies.
  • Contribute to monitoring, backstopping, and assessing the implementation of programmes and projects in areas such as investment for development, sustainable finance, private sector development, and investment and gender.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Experience Requirements

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Studies in areas such as economics, international economics, development, public policy or international relations is required.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: In person

Remuneration: The Internship Programme is unpaid. All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
