Overview

The Senior Project Associate will provide support to the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) and Counter Trafficking (CT) project activities, focusing on capacity building, communication, and awareness-raising. The role involves supporting communication, coordination, and networking with various stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, including capacity building events.
  • Compile, summarize, analyze, and present project-related information and data.
  • Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments.
  • Prepare and contribute to visibility and communication materials.
  • Maintain working relations with national/regional institutions, governmental, non-governmental entities, and international organizations.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences, supporting liaison and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in delivery.
  • Contribute to desk research, policy review, and trend analysis for AVRR/CT topics.
  • Keep project files updated and secured.
  • Assist in project progress evaluation and reporting.
  • Provide inputs for Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) and concept papers.
  • Undertake duty travel as required.
  • Provide guidance/training and assist in coordinating/monitoring work of other staff; may supervise staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Six years of relevant experience with a high school diploma; or
  • Four years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge in capacity building workshops, communication activities, or education activities.
  • Experience drafting and editing newsletters, press releases, articles, publications, social media content, short videos, reports, and briefing memos.
  • Previous experience working with governments, CSO, EC is an advantage.
  • Awareness of migrant and refugee issues – preferably in Bulgarian context.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution.

Languages Required
Fluency in Bulgarian and English (oral and written) is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of any other UN language is an advantage. Driving license Category B is an advantage.
Contract Duration
1 year with possibility of extension
