Overview
The GIS and Information Management Specialist will act as the technical lead and coordination focal point to ensure the delivery of integrated, high-quality geospatial services to SHOC and its Member States, strengthening their preparedness for effective disaster response.
Tasks Summary
- Carry out tasks requested by SHOC or any of the project member states via the Geospatial Information Management Service Desk (50% of the consultant’s time)
- Support MapAction at coordination meetings and workshops by sharing relevant experience in policy writing to improve coordination between SHOC and NDMAs in geospatial data collection and processing
- Support MapAction in organising and running training sessions for relevant SHOC and NDMA representatives
- Provide all support requested by MapAction in drafting the Needs Assessment Report
- Support MapAction in organising training sessions for relevant SHOC and NDMA representatives on using and maintaining GIS workflows and templates
- Produce SHOC-related thematic IM and mapping products upon request from MapAction
Experience Requirements
- Experience with ESRI software, GIS tools, and reporting is essential.
- Experience in the humanitarian sector or working with national authorities is an asset.
Qualification Requirements
Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Geography, Remote Sensing, Disaster Risk Management, or related field
