Overview

The Health and Nutrition Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance for Health and Nutrition programming, focusing on strengthening health and community systems, including immunization in emergencies.

Tasks Summary

• Prepares, manages, and implements technical and administrative tasks for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Health and Nutrition programs.
• Supports routine immunization and campaigns.
• Focuses on surveillance, preparedness, and response to vaccine-preventable diseases, Mpox, and accompanies the transition of health and nutrition clusters to sector coordination.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of two years of professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of Health and Nutrition-related programmes in developing countries is required.
• Experience in cluster/sector coordination, emergency settings and health and nutrition program/project development in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
• Professional work experience in a programme management function or a technical expert capacity in child survival & development.

Qualification Requirements

• A university degree in Public Health and Nutrition, Child Development, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines is required.
• Additional relevant postgraduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are an asset.
• Formal training in cluster coordination is an advantage.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
