Overview
Provide health assistance to migrants during their journey under IOM care, including medical escort, operational support, and general assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review refugee/migrant medical files and communicate findings with the IOM physician.
- Evaluate migrant fitness for travel prior to departure.
- Escort migrants throughout their journey and hand them over to the designated receiving party.
- Ensure availability of necessary medical services and equipment.
- Carry and manage a medical escort bag with medications and equipment.
- Introduce self to cabin staff and offer assistance to migrants.
- Ensure travelers are fit for travel and do not pose a health threat.
- Cancel persons from flights if their clinical condition warrants, in coordination with the IOM physician.
- Attend to migrants' in-flight and disembarkation needs.
- Obtain emergency contact information for IOM offices and healthcare personnel at the destination.
- Endorse escorted migrants to their family, representative, or IOM staff at the final destination and obtain written evidence.
- Submit a completed Medical Flight Report Form and Migrant Handover Notification within 2 days of task completion.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Experience
• At least five years of experience in clinical practice.
Qualifications
• University Degree in Medicine.
