Overview

The Finance Technical Officer will ensure accurate and compliant day-to-day accounting, support grant financial and fiscal reporting for the office in Geneva in full respect of Swiss law, Swiss GAAP, donor regulations and internal financial procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily bookkeeping and posting of financial transactions in the accounting software (Unit4).
  • Process accounts payable: control supplier invoices, execute payments (domestic and international), ensure correct cost allocation.
  • Handle all VAT-related obligations, including preparation and submission of VAT returns, reconciliation of VAT accounts, and ensuring compliance with Swiss VAT regulations.
  • Prepare monthly bank and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Support monthly and annual closing processes and contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts under Swiss GAAP.
  • Ensure proper electronic and physical filing of all supporting documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external audits (Swiss certified auditor, donor audits).
  • Support the financial cycle of institutional grants (budget monitoring, expenditure eligibility checks, preparation and submission of financial reports and payments requests to donors).
  • Provide financial data and analysis to grant managers and alert on variances or risks.
  • Any other tasks as delegated by the line manager.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Solid knowledge of Swiss accounting standards (Swiss GAAP RPC / FER) and VAT rules.
  • Excellent command of Excel and good knowledge of accounting software.
  • Knowledge of social-insurance system and/or payroll a strong advantage.
  • Experience in grant financial management within the humanitarian sector a plus.
Qualifications

Bachelor or Master degree in finance, accounting or business administration or equivalent.

Remuneration
Salary and benefits according to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions. This position is a grade 6 on NRC Geneva's 12 grade salary scale.
