Overview
The Infrastructure Coordinator Expert will provide technical oversight for ongoing infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with UNDP rules and regulations, and advancing partnership development and resource mobilization efforts.
Tasks Summary
- Review and approve tender documents including design packages, Bill of Quantities (BoQ), Scope of Works, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure adherence to UNDP rules and regulations, national building codes, and international standards.
- Verify that design services incorporate all major and minor engineering disciplines.
- Embed sustainability across all operations, accounting for local market conditions and capacity-building needs.
- Confirm thorough review and approval of all engineering and design services by Project Engineers.
- Guarantee robust supervision and quality control by UNDP civil engineers throughout pre-construction and construction phases.
- Provide regular updates on key issues to the Project Manager and Senior UNDP Management.
- Assist Senior Management in identifying new partnerships and mobilizing resources, including drafting concept notes.
- Conduct programmatic site visits as needed.
- Participate in coordination meetings with service providers, local authorities, and the UNDP Operations Unit.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in infrastructure design, construction supervision, or civil engineering project management.
- Proven experience reviewing and validating full engineering design packages, including Bills of Quantities (BoQs), technical drawings, specifications, and Scopes of Work.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with national building codes, international engineering standards, and organizational procurement and contract‑management procedures.
- Strong experience in site supervision, contractor oversight, and quality assurance throughout pre‑construction and construction phases.
- Practical understanding of sustainable and climate‑resilient design principles, with the ability to integrate environmental and social considerations into infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting resource‑mobilization efforts, including identifying partnership opportunities and independently drafting or contributing to concept notes and funding proposals.
- Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (project managers, engineers, procurement colleagues, authorities) and producing clear technical reports.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural environments.
Qualification Requirements
Master’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field such as Architecture or Construction Management
