Overview
The Associate Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer prepares GIS-based outputs for mapping, analysis, and reporting, supporting engineering works and data collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares drafting works for maps, diagrams, charts, and locations using GIS software.
- Edits GIS features and attributes, transfers data between GIS and AutoCAD, and collates GIS data with external databases.
- Organizes layers in GIS maps and changes symbology for viewing and presentation.
- Coordinates with GIS & Information Management specialist for project needs and data availability.
- Produces reports, statistical, and cartographic analysis.
- Provides support for staff in data collection and supplies relevant information, data, forms, and maps for surveys and designs.
- Produces hard copies of GIS maps, designs, and plans, and extracts reports based on GIS data analysis.
- Prepares drawings, diagrams, charts, and simple graphic works for presentations.
Required Experience
At least three years’ experience in data management, and GIS with demonstrated ability in development, analysis. Experience in managing databases, Cartographic skills, digitizing on GIS and other GIS tools. Experience with GPS data collection and remote sensing is an asset.
Qualifications
A university degree in information management, information science, geography, architecture, urban planning or similar with mandatory formal/certified training in GIS.
