Overview

The consultant will support the Country Office's strategic engagement with media, donors, UN agencies, and private partners to intensify resource mobilization and external communication efforts. The role aims to expand the donor base and improve visibility of the crisis, creating an enabling environment for fundraising and raising the profile of Malawi.

Tasks Summary
  • Identify and prospect high value partnerships and negotiate new partnerships.
  • Advance WFP’s value proposition and create tailored content.
  • Explore IFIs and private sector engagement opportunities.
  • Facilitate high-level public events and donor missions.
  • Create and establish new knowledge management systems.
  • Design a production plan for creative audiovisual content.
  • Use multimedia materials to position WFP for medium-term development.
  • Collaborate with technical units to build new 'products' for fundraising.
  • Liaise with Regional Bureau and CAM HQ for visibility.
  • Serve as editor and reviewer of stories, media messages, and news releases.
  • Pitch stories to outlets and expand media contacts.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to CO team for communications.
  • Develop and implement training for CO team.
Experience Requirements

At least five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience, including specialized knowledge and experience required to design and drive strategic partnerships and design communication and branding campaigns. Experience in partnerships management and communications.

Qualification Requirements

First University degree in Arts, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications, or other relevant fields.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency (level C) in English language

Languages Preferred: Proficiency in another UN language an asset

Contract Duration: 6 months (with possible extension)
