Overview
International consultant to lead an assessment of the quality of neonatal and obstetric care in Abkhazia, Georgia, using WHO assessment tools. The role involves planning, conducting the assessment, and developing recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive assessment of maternal and newborn care quality.
- Develop a comprehensive assessment plan.
- Lead the contextualization of assessment tools and checklists.
- Deliver an introductory presentation of the assessment plan and tools to local stakeholders.
- Lead the team in completing assigned modules of the assessment tool at various facilities.
- Oversee the finalization of the assessment report, focusing on referral pathways, intensive care units, discharge handover, and clinical care protocols.
- Lead the adaptation of five defined clinical care protocols and prepare training materials.
- Co-facilitate protocol development workshops.
- Coordinate inputs from team members and ensure timely finalization of deliverables.
Required Experience
- A minimum of ten years of clinical experience in the field of Obstetrics/Gynaecology.
- Proven experience in planning and/or implementing assessments of neonatal and obstetric care quality using WHO assessment tools.
- Demonstrated experience in developing or adapting clinical care protocols in perinatal and neonatal care.
- Proven experience in delivering training in the relevant fields.
- Relevant experience working with UNICEF and/or WHO.
- Experience working in sensitive or protracted contexts will be considered an advantage.
Qualifications
- Medical degree, at least Master’s degree required in Obstetrics/Gynaecology.
- An advanced academic degree will be considered an asset.
