Overview
The Manager, Metals and Minerals, Solutions & Impact will oversee the scaling of high-impact solutions across all WBG products, driving private sector investments in the metals and minerals sector and integrating infrastructure as a catalyst for development.
Key Responsibilities
- Replicate/scale high-impact projects & innovations across all WBG products.
- Coordinate & provide operational support to Regions and share best practices.
- Lead the operational implementation of the sector strategy, including growing the private sector investment pipeline, processing and portfolio management.
- Coordinate pipeline development across Regions, ensuring that the most promising WBG development solutions get scaled and replicated.
- Oversee the delivery of timely, high quality investment and advisory services to private sector clients.
- Ensure quality in the design of investment, upstream, and advisory engagements.
- Collaborate with other WBG groups to identify and manage risks.
- Lead coordination and collaboration with private sector partners.
- Strategically engage with and manage senior-level relationships with private sector clients and other key stakeholders.
- Lead, drive and inspire technical excellence within the team and the Department.
- Closely support and advise staff on their performance, skills development and career planning.
- Ensure that the department is at the forefront of the development debate and contributes to the global dialogue.
- Lead the implementation of the WBG Metals and Minerals strategy.
- Mobilize and lead Solutions and Impact teams.
- Monitor the impact of solutions.
- Support country teams to apply global knowledge and adapt them to local contexts.
- Promote innovative and cross-cutting ideas.
- Help clients scale proven solutions, and design, implement and deliver training, learning and capacity building programs.
- Decide on the best use of internal and external resources for maximum client and developmental impact.
- Be accountable for delivering the agreed-upon work program through cost-effective use of resources.
Required Experience
- At least 12 years of relevant experience in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility.
- Work experience in at least two world regions or a combination of regional and corporate assignments is required.
- Field experience is preferred.
- Proven operational and development experience, including policy and investment lending, with a strong record of delivering complex operations and policy dialogue across multiple regions and institutional settings.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including experience managing multi-location and virtual teams, and operating effectively with both formal and matrixed authority.
- Strong strategic orientation and ability to prioritize, streamline, and rationalize activities.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to lead teams for success during periods of change.
- Extensive experience working across practices, disciplines, and sectors, and in building partnerships with governments, the private sector, civil society, donors, and research institutions.
- Knowledge and experience in one or more relevant thematic areas is desirable.
- Excellent communication and representational skills, including proven experience engaging with senior stakeholders, media, and external constituencies.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a relevant field including economics, finance/business or engineering, or related field.
