Overview

Develop practical guidance for making non-detriment findings (NDFs) for sharks and rays to support CITES Scientific Authorities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature review and propose a conceptual framework for practical guidance.
  • Prepare a detailed annotated outline of the proposed practical guidance.
  • Draft the practical guidance, including three worked examples.
  • Facilitate peer review and revise the draft guidance.
Required Experience
  • Seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in shark and ray biology, fisheries science, or population assessment is required.
  • Experience working with data-limited fisheries or assessments for sharks and rays is required.
  • Experience interpreting fisheries data and/or stock assessment outputs for management or conservation decision-making is required.
  • Experience contributing to or supporting the development of Non-Detriment Findings (NDFs) for CITES-listed marine species is desirable.
  • Two years of experience working in an international organization is desirable.
Qualifications
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in biological or fisheries sciences is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

• Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of Spanish or French is desirable.
