Overview

The WASH Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of WASH output results.


Key Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze WASH trends, collect and synthesize information for programme development.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for programme documentation.
  • Assist in developing WASH-related outcome and output results and strategies.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes.
  • Monitor and report on programme implementation issues and resource utilization.
  • Undertake field visits and surveys, reporting critical issues.
  • Provide technical and operational support to counterparts and partners on UNICEF WASH policies.
  • Draft inputs for WASH emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders.
  • Draft communication materials for WASH programme advocacy.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings on WASH programming.
  • Research potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of WASH action research and innovation.
  • Assist in preparing learning/knowledge products on innovative approaches.
  • Assist in creating and delivering learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH staff.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
  • Experience in WASH humanitarian response is a strong asset.
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge in Humanitarian WASH – preparedness and Humanitarian WASH - response and recovery is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Qualifications

A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, civil, environmental or sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field as architecture.
