Overview
Provide technical, organizational, and coordination support for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases in Ukraine, focusing on risk factors, services, and EU alignment activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the NCD Management Unit in delivering technical support to the Ministry of Health and national partners on NCD aspects of health system and service development.
- Assist national partners in developing, implementing, and evaluating NCD prevention and control strategies and policies.
- Support the Ministry of Health in updating relevant materials and tools.
- Aid in performing training needs assessments and organizing training activities.
- Serve as a focal point for operational support with Ministry of Health counterparts for joint actions.
- Document programme experience, meeting outcomes, good practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Provide support in applying tools and guidelines for policy implementation, service development, and health care reform.
- Assist in collation of information, data analysis, and preparation of briefings and reports.
- Support national authorities and stakeholders in developing and implementing policies for trans fat elimination.
- Assist the Ministry of Health in developing and implementing a country package for salt reduction.
- Support national activities for physical activity promotion and reduction of sedentary behavior.
- Support collaboration with national authorities in adapting the WHO/Europe Manual on SBIs for NCD Risk factors.
- Facilitate information flow of BCA activities between WHO CO units, Regional Office, and other institutions.
- Support missions' preparation for WHO staff and external consultants and monitor their recommendations.
- Undertake regular monitoring of the implementation of BCA jointly with Ministry of Health counterparts.
- Prepare regular reports and updates to WHO CO and EURO.
- Support partner and stakeholder coordination in NCD prevention and control.
- Provide assistance in other areas of the work of the Country Office and CHP Division as needed.
Required Experience
- At least one year of professional experience within the area of NCD/NCCs including experience working with NCDs-related risk factors, as tobacco use, unhealthy diet or limited physical activity, hypertension, diabetes.
- Relevant experience in public health.
- Relevant experience with(in) WHO, UN agency or international organization.
Qualifications
- University degree (Bachelor's level/or equivalent) in medicine, public health or related area.
- Master's degree in any of the above areas or post-graduate training in a relevant NCDs-related area.
