Overview
The International Consultant on Trade Policy and Regulations will support the implementation of Result 1.3, strengthening Guatemala’s policy and regulatory frameworks in competition policy and paperless trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SPTI team in the implementation and coordination of the workplan under Result 1.3.
- Conduct and participate in consultations, prepare minutes, and update workplans.
- Prepare inputs for project progress reports.
- Review and edit relevant documentation.
- Support the implementation and follow-up of scheduled activities.
- Draft Terms of Reference for external consultants.
- Draft meeting minutes, technical background documents, concept notes, and presentations.
- Support the organization of meetings and consultations.
- Initiate, contribute to, draft, and/or edit substantive technical reports and studies.
- Support awareness-raising and communication efforts, including drafting scripts and supporting events.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in trade policy, trade negotiations and international trade.
- Demonstrated experience in trade policy and regulatory frameworks, including the analysis and development of trade-related regulations and policies (mandatory).
- Demonstrated experience in digital trade and paperless trade frameworks, including regulatory readiness assessments (mandatory).
- Proven experience in the implementation and coordination of trade-related or competition-related projects in developing and emerging economies, including stakeholder engagement and capacity-building activities.
- Experience working in or with Central American countries, particularly in relation to trade policy or regulatory frameworks, is an asset.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA, PHD or other) or Advanced degree (MA/MSc or Other) in Economics, International Trade, Law or related fields.
- Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
