Overview

The Associate Public Information Officer supports the day-to-day management and operations of the Africa Hall Visitors Center, focusing on visitor experience, visibility, and external engagement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Tracks, researches and analyzes information related to Africa Hall’s historical legacy and institutional role.
  • Drafts/compiles information communications products such as press releases, media packets, reports, brochures, briefings, video clips, newsletters, and websites.
  • Organizes the clearance, production and distribution of information material.
  • Prepares initial drafts of articles or chapters for inclusion in UN newsletters, periodicals, reports and books.
  • Identifies and proposes information opportunities, activities and approaches.
  • Identifies key contacts/constituencies and opportunities for strategic partnerships.
  • Organizes or participates in the organization of conferences, seminars, press briefings, and interviews.
  • Responds to a variety of inquiries and information requests internally and externally.
  • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data and provides draft insights using data visualization methods.
  • Supports the coordination of a consistent and high-quality visitor experience.
  • Provides day-to-day oversight and guidance to staff and personnel working under the Visitors Center.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration, marketing or related area is required. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public or business administration, or related field (Master's degree or equivalent) from a recognized institution is required. A first level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in marketing, data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage.
