Overview

The Policy Coordination Intern will support the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in coordinating efforts to reduce disasters and ensuring synergies among disaster reduction activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to Global DRR Processes, including support for post-2030 agenda and preparations for the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2028.
  • Support UNDRR’s Policy and Analytical Work, including assisting in the development of policy briefs and analytical papers.
  • Conduct research, synthesize information, and help draft substantive materials.
  • Assist in organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, and consultations.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Be a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme.
  • Have a good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
