Overview
Support the implementation of the DRR/CCA portfolio by providing risk and information management support. The role will be carried out in close coordination with the DTM Programme Officer to provide technical support for the development and integration of risk and information management products into DTM tools, as well as the use of DTM datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the collection, consolidation, verification and basic analysis of risk-related data with data visualization (PowerBI).
- Contribute to the maintenance, update and use of the national multi-hazard risk mapping GeoNode platform.
- Support the integration and use of DTM and other primary and secondary datasets within risk analysis, information products and project monitoring tools.
- Support the implementation of activities related to Early Warning Systems (EWS) in Burundi.
- Provide technical and administrative support to Government counterparts for the establishment and functioning of the national multi-hazard surveillance / situation room.
- Assist in the compilation, organization, basic analysis and dissemination of early warning and risk information.
- Support the development, use and maintenance of data collection tools, databases and trackers.
- Contribute to project monitoring and reporting.
- Support the preparation of information products such as dashboards, maps, factsheets, infographics and briefing notes.
- Support the application of IOM data protection and data sharing principles.
- Support the training and day-to-day guidance of project staff, field teams and partners on data collection tools, basic risk analysis and information management procedures.
- Undertake field visits as required.
Required Experience
- High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience providing operational support in risk and/or information management within programmes.
- Familiarity with risk information, migration, disaster or climate-related data in a humanitarian or development context is an asset.
- Experience supporting data collection, verification, consolidation and basic analysis, including the use of digital data collection tools.
- Familiarity with risk information systems, GIS-based products, risk mapping tools/platforms or early warning systems is a strong advantage.
- Experience supporting project monitoring, reporting and indicator tracking.
- Experience working with government counterparts, field teams and partners, including in capacity-building or technical support roles.
- Prior experience with international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs or government institutions in a multicultural environment related to humanitarian or development programming is an asset.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Geography and Risk Management, or related fields from an accredited institution.
