Overview
This internship provides support in reporting, analysis, coordination, research, administrative tasks, and communication within the UN Office to the African Union.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of periodic reports, briefing materials, and background notes.
- Compile and organize inputs for reporting.
- Monitor developments in AU and UN partnership discussions and prepare summaries.
- Maintain reporting trackers, databases, and document records.
- Assist in preparing materials and documentation for meetings, workshops, and events.
- Take notes during meetings and prepare draft summaries.
- Support logistical and coordination arrangements for meetings and events.
- Conduct background research on AU UN cooperation frameworks, peace support operations, and institutional partnership issues.
- Collect and organize information to support policy discussions and planning processes.
- Contribute to knowledge management by organizing files and improving access to reference materials.
- Assist with routine administrative tasks, including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and managing document workflows.
- Support preparations for missions, workshops, and conferences.
- Provide general administrative support to the team.
- Assist in preparing content for internal communication platforms, newsletters, and knowledge sharing products.
- Support documentation of good practices, lessons learned, and partnership milestones.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
No working experience is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- Field of study must be closely related to reporting, research, analytical support, and AU UN partnership engagement (e.g., International Relations, Political Science, Peace and Security Studies, African Studies, Public Policy, Gender Studies, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Public Relations).
- Proficient in standard office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with data compilation, information management, and reporting support is desirable.
- Knowledge of advanced Excel functions and experience with data visualization tools would be an asset.
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to its ideals.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
