Overview
The Driver provides reliable and efficient transportation services, ensuring high quality, safety, and accuracy of work. The role ensures full compliance with UN safety standards, contributes to cost-effective vehicle management, and supports administrative and messenger functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide driving services for authorized personnel and delivery of mail, documents, and other items.
- Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, arranging visa and customs formalities when required.
- Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicles and accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs.
- Ensure proper documentation of assigned vehicle related to operation and maintenance.
- Ensure traffic rules and regulations are understood and followed, avoiding unnecessary risks.
- Ensure all safety and security instructions are understood and followed.
- Report any incident pertaining to safety and operational standard of assigned vehicle to supervisor.
- Make judicious decisions in case of emergency and unusual circumstances.
- Ensure availability of vehicle documents and necessary parts.
- Perform daily, weekly, periodic checks and minor repairs, arranging for major repairs.
- Keep vehicle servicing record/registration/fitness and other relevant documents up-to-date.
- Maintain vehicle history book.
- Ensure spare tools, First Aid Box, Fire Extinguisher, ALS Items and other Safety & Security items are available and functional.
- Collect and deliver mail and other materials from and to the post office, government agencies, and other institutions.
- Sort, deliver, and pick up mail from various offices, maintaining records.
- Package/pack material for dispatch, label, insert material in envelopes, and frank outgoing mail.
- Support vehicle scheduling and coordination when needed.
- Use basic digital tools such as GPS navigation and fleet systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support office operations.
- Support the coordination of driver schedules and vehicle assignments, including maintaining and updating driver rosters.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
- Experience in vehicle management and maintenance is desired.
- Proven experience and knowledge of driving rules and regulations of Bangladesh is desired.
- Experience in supporting driver scheduling, maintaining duty rosters, or coordinating vehicle assignments is desired.
- Experience in minor repairing, particularly on common issues related to vehicle breakdown during road trips is desired.
- Experience in working at development sector/public sector will be an added advantage.
- Previous working experience in UN, International Organization or Embassy is desirable.
- Experience in preparation and monitoring of vehicle data reports (maintenance, fuel consumption and similar) is desired.
Qualifications
- Secondary Education (School Certificate (SSC) Passed) is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
